Problems deleting of Elements (no replies)

Dear Support Team

In our Screen Architect V1.1 and Enterprice Architect V7.1 environment. We have the problem with deleting Elements. Some of our deleted Elements (e.g. Labels or Rows in Tables) appears after restart. e.g. I deleted 2 rows in the table. All seems to work fine. But after next start of EA and SA de rows are allways there. I try this 3 times and is every time the same.

What's wrong in my handling?

Is this a knows Issue or maybe a bug?

TabSet element, duplicates its tabs when saving (no replies)

I am using the TabSet element in a drawing and it seems it recreates and duplicates the tabs when saving and/or exiting somehow. I.e. if I start out with 3-tabs in the TabSet, then when I open drawing up after restarting Screen Architect, the tabset contains 6-tabs. Even though I remove the additional tabs and saves again. The next time I open up (after closing down SA in between) It again contains, now 9-tabs! Help!!....

Im using version 1.0.0.330 of SA and version 7.1.829 of EA

Grateful for any help on this issue.

Images within grid control cells not rendered in diagram (1 reply)

Hi

We are using Screen Architect 1.0.0.403 and we are encountering the following problem:

Placing an image with a link inside a grid control's cell works pretty well. It is generated correctly in the HTML prototype, but on the screen diagram within ea itself, the image is not rendered. I tried to Send it to Front, but that didn't work. Is there a workaround or a bug fix available to use images with links inside grid cells?

Hello.

I downloaded the trial version to test it. I found a couple of weird issues using it.

1. After a couple of hours of using it, the screen seems to be lockeds, and you can't resize any control using your mouse (You can do it using the properties).
2. if you have a table with several collums, all with percentage size column, and you modify the table, some columns begin to disapear, and when you go to the edit rows and columns screen, it hang the program (cause a column has a 0 value, and when you try to modify it, it throw an error).
3. controls seems to disapear when you have a table and try to paste frame on it (on cells, they disapear from SA, but if you make a prototype they are visible).
4. If you put tables inside tables, sometimes the tables start spawning rows and collumns by themselfs. (Try building a table 2X1, put another table 1X2 on first row, and copy that table to another screen).

I have a couple of suggestion too, but I will post them on the correct forum.

Do you have a scheduled timetable for releases, fixes and improvements that can be followed?
We are considering your application, but we need that data to make a report about it.

This happen if I try to launch Screen Architect from EA Add In Menu or if I try to add a new screen to a package

Screen Architect application tries to start up, then I get a windows message:

Exception Error when providing wrong password - really!!?? (1 reply)

My EA model is password protected. Pretty normal stuff. So when I open the model from Screen Architect, SA asks me for the model password (so far so good). If I make a mistake typing in the password - I get an exception error in SA. Really?!? Shouldn't SA have a proper exit built in the login routine to simply tell me I have provided an invalid password instead of telling me this:

TabPage shows too many properties (1 reply)

The Properties panel shows far too many properties for a TabPage. I guess I should not be able to edit e.g. the Tag, AllowDrop property and ContextMenu property.

This has been introduced by 1.0.0.403.

Server Busy Message (2 replies)

Whenever I attempt to open a <> element from EA, and thus launch the Screen Architect Appliction (after clicking the "Design Screen" button) - always get this "server busy" message. It is simple enough to ignore - but I would prefer if it didn't happen in the first place. Does anyone know what causes this?

Crash when saving only change to tab name (2 replies)

With the latest build, screen architect crashes when performing the following steps:

* Start the designer for a screen with a tab list with a single tab from EA;
* Change the label of the tab; no star (*) appears for the designer tab (which normally signals that a screen has changed);
* Click the Save button;

can't open screen architect when EA project in mysql DB (5 replies)

Hi,

I've just acquired a screen architect license, when I've tested the trial version, I've used an EAP file and not my real project that is in a mysql database.

I can't lauch screen architect when the EAP project is in a mysql database.
I've the same problem in "standalone" or in "pluggin" mode

When opening the EA project in "server mode", ScreenArchitect ask for a password.
I think that screen architect is asking the database password after this dialog I receive the exception below:

I had a similar problem a while back, when generating prototypes and found that one of my screens had become corrupted, and that deleting the affected screen fixed the problem.

Incidentally, when these issues were occuring, the application was very slow in executing simple operations, such as opening a screen. Once the situation was resolveed, full speed was resumed.

it's really annoying that I have only a single line to enter the text in the properties-box.
Furthermore you cannot enter line breaks also not very nice if you enter more than a few words.

I created screens where I added quite a lot (10-15) JPG images (size of each: about 200kb). But these are probably saved as bitmaps causing a filesize for the sa-project of about 850mb!!!

how can I change this?

When generating a prototype for a screen that has a Grid, which has a cell with a background colour of 'MenuHighlight', the resulting HTML uses a background colour of 'HighlightText'

Disappearing screen items (1 reply)

Almost every time I close and open project again, some items on screen are missing or - by contrast - duplicated. It happens randomly with inputs and buttons, maybe with other item types too.
It is a very frustrating issue for me, because I'm never sure everything is OK when presenting screens to the customer.

Unable to view SA screens in sample project (2 replies)

Hi,
I cannot open any of the sample project screens in SA. I double click the screen and nothing happens. The project seems to load correctly and the eap file is accessible from EA. But I cannot view or edit a screen. When I select the login screen and right click to "Generate" then SA abends.

Please advise what I can do to get this working. This is critical as I'm meeting a client early next week and was hoping to be able to demonstrate the capability of this tool.

Incorrect charset in generated HTML (3 replies)

Characters specific for middle Europe like ě,š,č,ř... are displayed OK at design time in SA but they are not displayed correctly in my browser. Generated files are in UTF-8 encoding but there is no META tag in HTML with encoding specification.
I always have to manualy change charset to see the characters correctly.

Using a TabSet
The order of the tabs in the Designer are displayed as expected.
Generate Prototype and the order of the Tabs is different than the designer.

The order of my tabs in designer are
A, B, C, D, E, F
But in the prototype, they are displayed in the order
D, E, F, A, C, B

Is it possible to put in some scripting to hide/show some controls based on user input in the prototype? For example, have a button hide one control and show a different control.

Also is it possible to have a link change to a new tab in a TabSet instead of changing to a new screen or to a URL?

Using Screen Architect Standalone (not within EA) trial version.
Created a screen with a TabSet.
Worked with it several hours, added multiple tabs with controls on each tab.
Saved, generated prototypes numerous times
Closed Screen Architect.
Rebooted computer
Opened Screen Architect
Opened the existing model.
The TabSet now has hundreds of tabs. It appears as if every version of every tab is now included in the TabSet instead of just the most recent version.
I also noticed that every time I save, it is taking longer and longer (it is up over 3 minutes to save now). The eap file is also up to 23MB in size which seems huge for a TabSet with only 6 tabs and a limited number of controls per tab. When it is saving the EAP.EXE process is using 100% of the CPU

How do I resolve this?

Label formatting lost after reopening the project (3 replies)

When I add some font formatting to a label on screen, everything is ok, I can close and reopen the screen without problems. But after closing and opening the WHOLE project, all formatting is lost.
I am experiencing this issue on all screens.

Issue:
We have just started to use Screen Architect Trial Version, launched as an EA add-in, to build wireframes. On SAVE, Screen Architect locks up, sometimes taking a very long time to save and, more often than not, crashing Screen Architect instead. On some occasions, the user instance of EA crashes too.

We are trying to assess whether or not our projects can rely on Screen Architect for screen layouts and prototypes. Screen Architect features appear to be near suitable but this SAVE issue represents a significant productivity impact. Is there a solution or workaround?

Hi

I'm evaluating ScreenArchitect (Add in Version 1.0.0.330). I have it connected with the Oracle based repository for EA 7.1 827. When started from outside of EA I can browse the project structure. When trying to add a package within SA I get an error message (see below).

I don't get any further with the tool.

I am trying to use the HTML prototype to depict several scenarios on the same page, and to do that I would love to be able to copy and paste a complete screen and then make the minor changes and navigation to complete the prototype.

The problem is that sometimes when you copy elements (one, some or all) from a page and try to paste in another, sometimes they appear like their originals and sometimes loose all formatting, positioning and size. That is very frustrating. 2 questions:
1 - Is this in the scheduled bug fixes for next release? When should it be deployed?
2 - Is there any workaround or sequence of steps that would make copy-paste work every time?

Box is deleted when I delete the box 'Text' property ... (2 replies)

Hi,

I'm using the box shape in order to give me a visible form border in the HTML prototypes. I place the box over the full extent of the form wire-frame (i.e. the same size as the form), but this leaves the box 'Text' property visible in the middle of the box. However, if I select the text of the 'Text' property, say "Box1" and press the 'Delete' key, the whole box is deleted, rather than just the text.

To overcome this, I'm having to place the cursor into the 'Text' property cell and use the 'Backspace' key instead.

Another behaviour observed is that if I place the cursor in the 'Text' property cell, when there is no text there at all and press the 'Delete' key, the box is again deleted, and when I press the 'Undo' toolbar button, the application evaporates.

I'm using the box shape instead of the usual panels as I can't seem to get the panel controls to be made visible in the HTML prototype. Is this behaviour by design?

Also, in terms of Z-Order, all I can do is set an item to the front or the back. Is the finer granularity of this behaviour (i.e. Move Forwards, Move Backwards through the layers) something that you guys are working on this year in the 'layering' works detailed in your roadmap?

EA running on Oracle DB causes SA to crash (1 reply)

We have imported our Enterprise Architect EAP file into an Oracle database and are now experiencing issues when trying to connect to this database via Screen Architect. We have just purchased the full version of SA, and I am worried that it has been a waste of money if it doesn't work with Oracle!

The Exception ID for the error when I launch Screen Architect via EA is:

Screen Architect Standalone and Windows Vista (no replies)

In some cases users have been experiencing issues with running Screen Architect in Standalone mode on Windows Vista, due to issues with directory permissions.

This manifests itself by:

* Causing Screen Architect to immediately crash when being started stand-alone, the default error dialog (including Stack trace information etc.) is not displayed.
* Screen Architect works without issue when used as an Add-in within Enterprise Architect.
* No information is record in the SA log file.

To work around this you need to browse to your Screen Architect directory (normaly %ProgramFiles%\ScreenArchitect Limited\ScreenArchitect\) and:

* Right click on the folder, select Properties.
* Navigate to the Security Tab.
* Click Edit to change the Permissions.
* If the Current User isn't in the list of Users, add him.
* Select the current user, check the "Full control" check box.
* Click OK to close the properties window and save the changes.

At this point the current user should have enough directory permissions to allow Screen Architect to start in stand-alone mode.

In the future we will be working towards resolving this issue so Screen Architect can work without requiring these permission changes.
